June 27 2016

Aloha!
This is going to be really quick cause I'm out of time haha. I really should manage my time better.
We'll I hope you had an awesome birthday Momma :) You're the best and I love you so much.
This week I decided to do an interchange with my district. I went with Elder Carbajal and while we were walking I saw this white guy that was in front of us. I was like whoa a gringo! But then I thought again cause there are a lot of people here that have light skin too. We got closer and he started to speak to his little daughter in English! I was like whoa no way! I started talking to him and he told me that he was from Utah! I was like oh cool he's probably a member. He said he used to be a member of the church but he joined the Baptist church. He kind of started to contend and I have never really taught anybody ever in English about the gospel. So I was thinking to myself ah this is going to be interesting. I am 100 percent shocked at how God puts the words in our mouths as missionaries. I dont like to contend and so all I did was bear testimony. There is a scripture in Nefi that talks about missionaries. I think it is quoting Isiah but it says 'Is there anyone who will contend with me? Come near and I will smite thee with the force of my mouth.' I know that we aren't the teachers here. The Holy Ghost works through us to convert people and it's just our blessing to be here to be his instruments. Anyway I bore testimony and this guy was just quiet. We gave him a card and left.
Later we were talking to a different family and they said that there was a pastor from the Baptist church that is from the United States and he has like thousands of followers haha. I talked to that guy and thankfully the Lord worked through me and he was able to feel the spirit.
I love the mission and I testify that Christ talks through us as His servants. He literally fills my mouth with His words everyday.
Have a good week!

June 20 2016

Hola!

Well this week we were really thinking of how we can find new people to teach. We decided that we are going to talk to more people during the day. Right now our president has put the goal to contact 85 people every week. We have been doing that but we want more popel to teach. So me and my companion put 150 as a goal and at 8:50 last night we completed it! We are contacting tons of people and it's so cool to meet so many different and new people. We were walking on Miercoles and we see this guy walking with a cane. He's like 35. We went and talked to him and he said his name is Hitler! I was like what haha theres no way. I thought he was just joking with us. We explained who we are and what we do and he was super interested. We started talking to him about his beliefs and he asked us what we believe about Jesus Christ. We testified that He died for us and that He paid the price so that we can be happy and so that we can be free of sin, guilt, and any imperfection based on our faith and trust in Him. He went on to tell us about how he had an accident. He used to drive semi trucks and one time when he was driving a mountain caved in on him and destroyed his foot. He said he has been looking for peace and that he knows that God has a plan for him because he miraculously wasn't killed in the accident. He was explaining to us about his accident when all the sudden he just stopped and his eyes watered up and he couldn't talk for like 2 minutes. We were just standing there supporting him so he could stand cause we were standing right outside his house. I could really see how grateful he is for Christ and the opportunities God gives us to progress and to be here in this life. I think that if I had to say that there is one thing that I have learned here, I have learned to love Jesus Christ because the truth is that without Him and without His infinite sacrifice we would be so lost. I'm grateful that I can be with my family forever in a state of celestial glory because He loves us so much that He suffered every pain we go through and He died for us.
This week was also Fathers Day and I hope all the fathers had an awesome day. I'm grateful for my own father and for so many things that he has taught me. I love you Dad! Also happy birthday Momma D! I seriously have the best parents in the world. I'm grateful for the examples I have because I know one day I will be a father and when a family follows Christ's example and his gospel, happiness is achievable and in no other way.
We'll I dont have much time. I put in a lot of pictures this week! We went to like a water fountain park thing! So there are lots of fotos of that.

Thanks for all your support and for praying for me! I love Peru. I love the poeple here so much :)

June 13 2016

Alright this week was awesome. It was super extremely hard but it was such an awesome opportunity to grow. So me and my companion have put the goal to talk to 30 people everyday in the street. Our mission has given us the goal to talk to 15 everyday and we have doubled it because we want twice as many new investigators. So we are seriously talking to people all day long and it wears me out so much haha but I LOVE it! We have gotten to know so many cool people. We decicded that if we complete the goal and talk to 30 new people everyday on p-day we are going to make pancakes and just go to town. So that motivates us :) My companion Elder Morales is seriously awesome. He is so excited about the work that we are doing.

This week was such a blessing. Elder Rasband from the Quorum of the 12 Apostoles came to the mission to talk to us. It was great! The night before the reunion our leaders called us and told us that they had bad news and good news. The bad news: We had to be in the stake center at 4 in the morning. The good news!! We got to shake Elder Rasbands hand! Wow it was such an awesome experience. There were 3 missions there. Lima Central, West and North. So as we all shook his hand and my turn was coming up I was so excited haha. Wow it's indescribable how much love he transmits to us. When I shook his hand he just looked me square in the eye and I could just feel so much power in him. The prophets and apostoles really are men that are called of God. The part that I loved most from his talk was when he said President Monson sent with me 2 messages. First, thank you. and second, I love you. He explained how he sees President Monson pray for us everyday. He says that the prophet pleads and begs God to guide us and protect us. Elder Rasband cried when he expressed how much he, President Monson, and the rest of the apostoles love us so much. It was an experience that I will never forget.

Well my time is up so I should go. But this week we baptized Moises! He is such an awesome guy and I know for a fact that he will be a great leader in the church some day. He is the most solid investigator that I have ever had in my whole mission. Everyday when we go by his house his tv is on and the general conference is playing or there are church hymns or he is reading church books. He's so awesome! I'm grateful that he chose me to baptize him. I love seeing the joy that this gospel brings to people. Especially after baptism because their whole countenance changes and they are just filled with joy and the light of Christ. I love it :)

Well I need to go. I love you all and I'm grateful to be in the one and only true church of Jesus Christ, the same church that he established when he was here. This makes me so happy :) And being Mormon is being happy.

MY TWO SONS!! studs

We had to empty and baptismal font with buckets haha so tiring but it was worth it.

Im going to start taking pictures of all the foods we eat haha.

June 6 2016

Aloha!

Well this week we were waiting from the news from the zone leaders about the transfers and everything. We were thinking that we were both going to stay in the sector because Elder Cea had only been here for 3 changes and usually in this mission we stay 4 changes. They told us that Elder Cea was going to have a transfer. It's always sad seeing a companion go because we grow to be such good friends, brothers, during these short months. so that was kinda rough. Then they said that I was going to be staying in the sector training a new missionary and as district leader! So that was fun haha. So this will the second time that I will be training. My companions name is Elder Morales and he is from Bolivia.
He reminds me so much of how I was at the beginning of my mission. I didn't know very much but I did know that by following the gospel we can recieve blessings. He is so ready to work and he keeps me so motivated too. This is going to help me to finish my mission strong and to expeience all the blessings that God wants me to experience and to find all the people that God wants me to find while I am here.
This week we have been finding people like crazy too. I notice now more than ever that having a good attitude is key for anything that we do. Especially in the missionary work that we have been trusted with. I love training and being a leader. I think I'm learning much more than I am teaching too.
This week we were walking down the street and where there are places with traffic it's always pretty dangerous because guys come down from the hills and rob people that are stuck in traffic. Me and my companion were walking down the crowded street when there was a ton of traffic and we had to go up a little into the hill to find a house. we were there waiting when like 4 guys came down and started to talk among themselves like 30 or 40 feet from us. They kept their eye on us and the guy wasn't home to we sarted going back own the hill and they just watched us. We got back down to the street and started walking back to the more calm part when we pass this little ally type thing. I looked to my left and right when we passed there was one of the guys waiting there. He was seriously 10 inches fom my face and it was as if he couldn't even see me. He looked right at me and didnt even flinch. It was as if he was sitting there waiting for us to pass by. I'm not sure if he had intenciones to do something to us or not, but I know that God protected us and that he always does when we are obedient and faithful. I love this work because God promises us so many blessings. and mostly because other people can have part of these blessings too if they have faith and accept us.
This week Moses is going to be baptized! I'm excited for that. I love the work. I love my family. I love the experiences that we have that teach us so much and put us in positions to serve and help others. We are all so excited because this week an apostol comes to the mission! Elder Rasband from the 12 Apostoles is going to come. That is going to be awesome :) or as mom would say thats legit haha. I love you guys!
