July 27 2015

This week I really understood how happy this work makes me. The best feeling is seeing other people being happy. The Gospel of Jesus Christ is all about love and happiness, and to be the one going from house to house sharing these things is so awesome. There is nothing else I could want more.

We visited the sister of Jorge (a recent convert that we baptized on the 18), and she’s so cool! She said that she was jealous that Jorge was able to be baptized haha and so we invited her and she accepted a date to be baptized too! We’ll see how it goes with her. We are seriously being so blessed with tons of people to teach and baptize. This week we are going to have 2 more baptisms! Both of them are 9 years old and they’re so awesome. I’m going to baptize the little girl and my companion is going to baptize the boy. Haha these little kids love us so much.. They love the missionaries. That’s something that I’m definitely going to miss when the mission comes to an end.

Well there isn’t much to write this week. Tomorrow is Independence Day here in Peru! So next week I’m sure there will be some pictures of some fiestas patrias and lots and lots of banderas.

The mission is great. The people love us. The food is better than ever. My companion is awesome. And we are learning probably even more than we are teaching about God and his love for us.

Have a good week and thanks for all the emails and all the support :)

Aloha!

Another amazing week! Every week in the mission is amazing haha but this week I think will change my mission. We had three baptisms! Jose, Jorge, and Ronald! They’re all so solid and have goals to go to the temple and grow even closer to God. It really is amazing to see people change their life so that they can get baptized. Throughout this mission I’ve come to know for a fact that the only true happiness exists when we do what Heavenly Father wants us to do. The Prophet Thomas S Monson said that if we do what God wants, we WILL be happy for eternity. If we don’t do what he wants, we MIGHT have a glimmer or temporary happiness. It’s so true. Doing the will of the father and keeping his commands is the only way that we can truly be happy. I’m happy here in the mission because I’ve seen so many people change their lives and find this happiness that I have. They always ask why I’m always smiling and I guess it’s just because, I know who I am. I know why I’m here. I know that I have a father in heaven that loves me and that I have an awesome family that has the same goals as I do, to get back to the presence of our Heavenly Father. If this is the goal, and we honestly do everything to reach it, we’re going to be alright. But faith, patience and diligence are key.
Sometimes we have to wait for his will and his perfect timing.
Well I don’t have a ton of time but thanks for all the prayers and for all the emails. I love you all and I love hearing about what’s happening back at home. Have a good week and remember to think of what you’re willing to do to have real happiness :)

Aloha!
Wow time is flying. I know I always say that haha but this week I completed 10 months in the mission. It seems like every time I blink another month goes by. It makes me really take advantage of this time because I only have 14 more months to be a representative of Jesus Christ. There’s nothing else that I could be doing right now to be happier.

Happy Birthday Eric! My bro`s a stud and if you haven’t met him you should. I hope it’s a good one Enrique ;)

We had an awesome week! Sandro and Alison were baptized this week. I baptized Alison and Elder Ramirez baptized Sandro. It was so cool to hear their testimonies. Even though Alison is only 11 years old, she testified of the Atonement and it was so powerful. They both bore testimony that they felt as if a weight had been lifted from them. That’s what happens when you follow the example of Jesus Christ :) we are promised the remission of our sins when we are baptized after repenting and changing our lives.
When I was confirming Sandro and giving him the gift of the Holy Ghost he said that he couldn’t breathe and they he just felt good and clean. That’s what the Holy Ghost does! After baptism we are clean and then we are worthy to have the gift of the Holy Ghost. Everything we do in the church is the same as when Jesus Christ was here on the earth. He was baptized by immersion, in deep water, by someone who held the priesthood, or the authority from God to act in his name. This priesthood has been passed down to me and my companion and that’s how we can baptize. And we give the gift of the Holy Ghost in the same way that Christ and his apostles did it too. This truly is the church of Jesus Christ. And I’m so glad that I know it’s true.

Well I’m out of time already but I’ll be sure to write more next week and let you guys know how I’m doing here in good ol Lima. The mission is the best! Keep praying for us please.

July 6 2015

President and Hermana Borg finished their mission this week! And President and Hermana Larson came. I don’t have a picture with them yet but we’re going to have zone interviews on the 21st so I’ll get a picture then. I really am going to miss President Borg and his wife cause they’re seriously so great. President Larson and his wife are the most humble people I’ve ever known. We had to go to the offices this week to pick something up and I was able to talk to them for like 30 minutes. They’re great! And I’m way stoked to be able to get to know them better. They have a blog! I’m gonna put it on here before I forget. larsonsinlima.blogspot.com

It’s sad to hear about the passing away of Boyd K Packer. I’m really curious to see who the new apostles will be! The topic of Elder L Tom Perry and Boyd K Packer’s last talks were about marriage. It really shows how important the play of God is in our lives and how marriage between a man and a woman is essential to live with our Heavenly Father again.

Yesterday during sacrament meeting I gave a baby blessing and it was seriously so much different than I thought it would be. We give so many health blessings and blessing of comfort through the priesthood and I thought the baby blessing would be kind of like that but it was wayy different. I could just feel the love that Heavenly Father has for that little guy. Then I thought about how our Heavenly Father sees each one of us. We are literally his children and he loves us more than we could know. Blessing the baby was an experience that I can’t really describe haha. It was just amazing and made me want to be a better person and to be more humble.

Really quick I want to share a cool story! There is a street in our sector that is always really busy. We have to cross the street throughout the day maybe like 3 or 4 times. We were waiting for the little crosswalk guy to turn green so that we could cross. We were just talking and everything was normal. Then the guy turned green. But me and my companion didn’t move. It was the weirdest thing because we both just felt like we shouldn’t go yet. We waited like 15 seconds and then all of the sudden we hear a loud crashing noise! And there comes a car speeding out of control and it’s tire fell off!! The car skid to a stop and the tire sped by us at like 40 miles an hour haha. I know that we were definitely protected that day and I don’t know what would have happened if we hadn’t listened to the spirit. The spirit protects us from physical harm and also from spiritual harm. Sometimes we have decisions to make between right and the wrong. And if we listen to the spirit and choose the right, we will be taken out of the way of sin and guilt. But if we don’t listen to the spirit we could be seriously harmed spiritually and physically. We should always just do everything we can to first, be worthy of the guidance of the spirit, and second, listen to it and do as it says. If we do these things we’re going to be alright :)

Well have a good week and keep praying for me and my companion and for his mom too! She’s sick with cancer and he’s pretty worried about her.
